I must admit that I personally measure success in terms of the contributions an individual makes to her or his fellow human beings. — Margaret Mead

Studio Etiquette

  • Yoga is a place for nurturing. Please be compassionate and kind with yourself and others.
  • Please arrive for class on time whenever possible. You will be asked to sign in prior to each class and may need to pay if your card is past-due or you are paying for a drop-in pass. You will also need time to roll out your mat and, if necessary, prepare yourself for class. Before the teacher begins the class you are welcomed to sit in your own space quietly and calmly as you being to settle your body down. This will eventually come to be a place of self-nurturing away from the hassles and stresses of life - a sanctuary of sorts.
  • We ask that you enjoy the final relaxation of Savasana, an important part of nurturing our mind, body, and spirit. It may feel uncomfortable at first to relax because most often we are in a state of arousal; however, this too may become a sanctuary and give yourself permission to relax and nourish your body with the relaxation it needs to continue throughout the week.
  • We ask that you refrain from wearing any perfume, cologne, after shave, essential oils, or scented antiperspirant, shampoos, or conditioners, as has become a common request in Halifax. Just like natural body odors, these artificial odors will be intensified by the heat of the practice. Some students who come to the studio are VERY sensitive to chemicals. Please help them. This includes all "natural" or "organic" scents as well.
